I can take no credit for this joke. It was forwarded to me in an email and the source wasn’t noted… so I can’t tell you who came up with it first… (p.s., please do not take this as a sign that I would appreciate a bunch of joke forwards… Dude, I get hundreds of emails a day)… Anyway, a little Holy Week humor coming your way:

CHURCH TELEPHONE

A man in Topeka, Kansas, decided to write a book about churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco, and started working east from there. Going
to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes.

He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall, and was intrigued with a sign which read, “$10,000 per minute.” Seeking out the preacher, he asked about the phone and the sign.

The preacher answered that the golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to Heaven, and if he pays the price, he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the preacher and continued on his way.

As he continued to visit churches in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United States, he found more such phones, with the same sign, and the same explanation from each preacher.

Finally, the man arrived in the wonderful state of Texas. Upon entering a church, behold: he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read: “Calls: 25 cents”!

Fascinated, the man asked to speak with the preacher. “Preacher, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone, and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven, and that I could use
it to talk to God. But in 20 other churches, the cost was
$10,000 per minute. Your sign says 25 cents per call–Why is that?

The preacher, smiling benignly, replied: “Son, you’re in Texas now, and it’s a local call.

Hey family. I have an idea. Let’s start our own Amazon.com and call it Get-It-To-You-On-Time-Azon.

Just a thought.

Congrats ladies!

Good morning All,

What a beautiful, rainy, blessed day here in my hometown—Muscatine. Do I miss purple mountains majesty, you betcha. BUT GOD—I love that phrase—but God has planned for me to be in wonderful, buggy, humid, family-filled Iowa at this time in my life. I can only say, Praise the Lord for guidance, assurance, and most of all PEACE that passes my understanding.

How can I be more blessed??? Didn’t think it could happen, but I’m continuing to be reminded that every step is a new adventure. Oh my gosh! ALASKA!!!! How can this be happening? Only in the tapestry of my life designed by God Almighty. The scripture talks about blessings that we cannot even imagine—this is one of them. A sister who prayed to be able to share this cruise with ME—-and God answered even before we spoke. What a mighty God we serve.

This year of surprises, disappointments, shock, confusion, anger, etc. etc. is not a surprise to my Lord. I am so thankful for the years of trust in Him that has brought me to this time. His anchor is my stability and sanity. His anchor is lined with all of you—especially Jeanie and her family, Donna, and Doris. What love He has for His family.

Anna and I love you so much.
